Words and their Affect on my Body & Emotions plus Moving from Reacting to Responding

Join Annette for this great 1.5 hour workshop for you and your child. Each workshop will have a different theme where you will be able to explore and learn Sophrology, Mindfulness and Positive Psychology techniques for both you and your child. This is an invaluable workshop for both you and your child!

This month`s exercises will look at the use of high energy versus low energy words. You and your child can begin to explore dramatically changing the way you communicate to bring better responses from the body and the mind. We will also learn both dynamic and meditative easy to use exercises to centre ourselves when we feel overly reactive.

We will start with ludique (a game), breathing exercises and then move onto either Sophrology or Mindfulness techniques that can be easily practiced at home.

ALL Teens can benefit from this Workshop series aimed to help them manage both the stress of school life and the stress of exams, helping them perform at their best in a happier and more relaxed state of mind and body. The techniques taught on this workshop series are techniques students can use in all aspects of life as they are based in practices that bring the body and mind into a state of awareness that allows them to distance themselves from negative thinking, shock and the worry. Life will continue to surprise them but they will have the ability to choose to respond to life`s surprises and stressors rather then react to them or let them take over their lives.

This workshop sereis is lively and interactive with your teen learning several SOPHROLOGY  exercises, MINDFULNESS, positive psychology prinicples that are easy to integrate into their already busy lives. Each participant will receive a set of notes and recordings of the exercises for easy at home practice.

Exercises are aimed to help your teen build RESILIENCE and;
  • have an active mind in a relaxed body
  • turn off negative chatter in their brain
  • concentrate more easily
  • control emotions more easily
  • sleep more easily and soundly
  • let go of peer pressure
  • reach their goals to the best of their ability

This activity is based on the Paws.b Mindfulness program as taught by the UK Mindfulness In Schools Organization. Mindfluness is a meditative practice that is non-secular but with origins from Buddhist traditions.

Mindfulness promotes well-beingIt offers knowledge and skills applicable to the child’s life
  • It can be individually tailored to suit each child
  • It extends the thinking skills learning It helps children understand themselves better
  • It helps them to be resilient and resourceful when life is challengingSkills and understanding taught can be available throughout their school life and beyond
The feedback from children who have taken part in Paws.b is very positive. The children report enjoying the lessons and finding the learning supports them in a broad range of situations from being able to concentrate and focus more easily in school to helping them feel calmer in exams and competitions. Many have described sharing the learning with other family members and finding it helps them with their relationships with family and friends.

To register please go to the La Côte International School Website after August 15th, 2016. I am looking forward to helping your children get off to a wonderful start to this school year.
